Great book, although the deception part had me wondering how the man would redeem himself. Coincidentally, this is the 2nd book I've finished today that involves lies and deception and it unnerves me, but those lies keep me turning page after page. I don't want to be the cause of spoilers since I'm spoiler allergic myself. I liked the character consistency and development, the way they are always decisive and a how a cruel intention backfired and reformed a character. I have to admit Alec isn't the usual rakehell chasing skirts and I give him credit for that, it's a breath of fresh air, and there is nothing to reform. I also liked the curious virgin the heroine is, she's one of those adventurous but not dimwitted females, she's adamant about propriety but curiosity didn't kill the cat, it pleasured her. ( )

And what Alec wants is Miss Katherine Merivale, a wealthy heiress who could help him restore his estate - without her knowing his true intentions. An interesting premise and memorable characters. This is the 1st of the Royal Brotherhood Series, with Alec, Earl of Iversley and Katherine Merivale. I really took a liking to Alec, ,maybe it was his desperate attempt to save his home, even if it means marrying for money. Katherine is very likeable and they become a very pleasant stable couple. Jeffries writes with such intelligence and respect for her readers. she also imparts some information that is important to her and enlighting to the reader. ( )
