This is another classic Dr. Seuss book. It does not have a storyline - instead, it simply rhymes words and uses pictures to illustrate what is going on in the very simple sentence. For example - CUP PUP, Pup in cup. The picture shows a puppy in a cup. This is good to teach children prepositions, such as on, in, into, under, below, etc.

The illustrations are classic Seuss characters. They show a lot of emotion and action in every picture. The text is still in it's own white space away from the illustrations. ( )

This book is such a great beginner book. It really helps with teaching kids to read. Dr Seuss creates easy rhumes to help learning and to inspire children to read. The illustrations are wild and fun in this book, which is something that is important in order to keep the kids attention in reading this book. The rhymes are silly and fun, and this book is a widely recognized favorite of many elementary teachers.

This is great book to help children learn about rhyming. It is repetitive and allows the children to predict what is going to happen next. It teaches children many site words. As the story progress, more and more rhyming words are added.

This book does not have much of a story line. It is just a really good starter book for children to learn to read. I love this book. This book is good for children who are just starting out or who need a little help reading. The book repeats lots of words, has pictures that can help the children read just by looking at them, and the font is pretty big and easy to read. This book is also a rhyming book. It can really help children to learn lots of words that look the same. I would recommend giving this the small children. I know they wouold love it! The pictures are so bright and really funny. A good activity would be to read a page and let the children ryhme with the words they just read and to use the words in a sentence or short story.

Hop on Pop is a great book that the students would love for many reasons. The Pictures help with the words on the page and this book encourages students to read. The big print makes it easy for children to help if being read to. The students would love to hear the rhyming in the book, especially if it was read fast. This book is great for beginner readers because it uses word families throughout the book. The word families and short words make it a good book for building confidence in young readers also.

Opis książki

Amazon.com (ISBN 039480029X, Hardcover)

First published in 1963, Hop on Pop remains a perennial favorite when it comes to teaching kids to read. Here, as in most of his extensive body of work, Dr. Seuss creates uncomplicated, monosyllabic rhymes to foster learning and inspire children to read. But what was radical about this little book at the time of publication (and what makes it still compelling today) is Seuss's departure from the traditionally dull pictures and sentences used in reading primers. In contrast, the illustrations here are wild and wonderful, and the accompanying language, while simple, is delightfully silly. For example, the rhyme "THREE TREE / Three fish in a tree / Fish in a tree? / How can that be?" is brought to life with a trio of plump, self-satisfied fish perched atop globular branches as two stymied hybrid dog-rabbit-humanoids look on in consternation. Hop on Pop does much more than teach children the basics of word construction, it also introduces them to the incomparable pleasure of reading a book. (Ages Baby to Preschooler)
