O mnieI am the cataloging assistant at the Northwestern University Transportation Library in Evanston, Illinois. I am a recent graduate of the LIS program at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois. I have a B.S. in computer engineering and philosophy and an M.A. in philosophy from Syracuse University, and I reached the ABD status in the graduate philosophy program at Northwestern University. My philosophical interests are in metaphysics and the philosophy of language, so it's probably not surprising that I ended up as a cataloger. Heh.

O mojej biblioteceMy catalog contains all of my books, CDs, LPs, DVDs, and commercially produced VHS cassettes. I was able to find MARC records through LibraryThing for almost all of my books, about two-fifths of my CDs, about half of my LPs, about two-thirds of my DVDs, and about half of my VHS cassettes. I added the remainder of the records either by copying and pasting MARC records from Connexion or by entering the records manually, following AACR2 as far as the form allows. My tags consist of disarticulated (and in some cases slightly modified) Library of Congress subject headings and uniform title headings. Hey, they're out there, so why reinvent the wheel?

Thanks for the info. I try to be conservative when combining things, but music cataloging is a new area for myself; I try not to step on any toes. We'll probally have alot of music in common if I ever finish. I tend to catalogue by artist, so our classical selections probally won't match up, but we seem to have a similar taste in darker pop music. You don't shop at the Evanston B&N by any chance? I just started working there.
hello,
I was going to combine my copy of Duke Ellington's Far East Suite with yours, but I see yours is labelled as "special mix". Has it only been remastered, or does it have different tracks?
thank you!
"My catalogue is long, Thro' every passion ranging and to your humours changing I tune my supple song!"

I sure wish I understood all that catalogue-speak in your "about my library" section, because it sure does sound helpful and systematic!
