O mnieReading has always been a pleasure - some may say an addiction - for me. I was an English major in college so that I could explore this passion more fully. I have had adult basic literacy students for many years because I quite simply couldn't imagine a world without the joy of reading, let alone the practical aspects of knowing how to read. I tend to panic if I don't have a very large backlog of books waiting to be read, and LT has provided even more to my toppling pile. There simply isn't enough time, so reading is at the top of my priority list. My daughters say that their earliest memory of me is reading my own book or reading one to them. I can think of no greater compliment - and certainly no better legacy than the love of reading.

O mojej biblioteceI prefer to read literature, but sometimes digress into biographies and non-fiction. I think that literature is a way of connecting with timeless emotions and experiences. I love books that leave me with something to think about long after I've finished the book.

Hi Pat! Haven't chatted with you in a while...Hope you are well and happy. I wanted to ask you what you thought of Sworn To Silence by Linda Castillo? I've just picked it up and have read mixed reviews. Some people didn't care for the prose while others really enjoyed it. Where do you stand? Merry Christmas to you and your family!! Take care!

Pat, I thank you for writing. I enjoy Boyle, too, though I haven't yet read any of the short stories. I do know about his interest in Frank Lloyd Wright. I have a dear friend in Colorado to whom I recently sent the Frank Lloyd Wright pop-up book -- she has so many other books on Wright, I thought she might enjoy one that was a bit different. She and I both enjoyed Nancy Horan's novel about his relationship with Mamah Cheney, although we wondered how much of it was fiction and how much fact.

As for Tim Pears, I read In the Place of Fallen Leaves many years ago and loved it. I kept an eye out for other books by him and came across In A Land of Plenty, which I also enjoyed. There were moments in both those books where I felt so deeply what he was saying, what the characters were experiencing. I don't always get a connection on that level, so he's an author I've come to care about.

You are welcome...we have quite a few books in common....Shadow of the Wind is my all-time favorite....I liked it so much my son and I went to Barcelona to find all the places in the book. :) We had so much fun.

I really like LT too...I agree it is a great place to discover books.
