O mojej biblioteceBooks I own (some of them are my husband's--mostly the military ones). Books I've read. Books I'm going to read.

***2009 Plan***
Since the 2008 read-the-classics plan didn't quite work out, this year I'm just sticking with a general goal of 75 books. I wish everyone a year of great reading!

Noticed that you liked The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here (as well as on a few other book-related sites). I thought you might like my novel since it's been compared to that novel by a number of reviewers. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Sure! And it's too bad you can't go...it would be cool if the Festival toured the country or something, instead of just being in one location on one day!
Lisa,

I just noticed the kind note you left on my page, and I appreciate it. I really dig this website, wish I had more time to comb through it. If you get a chance to read DEEP IN THE MOUNTAINS, I would love to know what you think. I was at ALA in 2007 signing books, trying to get out as many copies as I could to librarians. In any case, hope 2008 is off to a good start for you.

Best,
T.Cheng
Hi, Lisa!

Thanks for the reply. I will try Colm Toibin; I will read anything suggested by a Trevor fan! I agree- Trevor's works are haunting and tense. That is what I love about them, too. That, and they make you really think about things, like dissent, ethnocentrism, and basic human equity.

It's so good to be meeting friendly fellow book-lovers on Library Thing. What an oasis of intelligent discussion. Thanks!

Hi. I am new to Library Thing. I saw in my "shared favorites" that you like William Trevor as well. Can you tell me if you have read Beyond the Pale & Other Stories, by him? If so, what did you think of it? I read it years ago in college, and the memory haunts me ever since. I found it riveting. I relate it to today, and the way some people would rather pretend "nothing is happening," than to deal with the serious issues of inequity, dissent, and revolution that face us, daily.

What other Trevor have you read? Anything to suggest?

I am happy to have at least one of his books in my possession now!

I like David Sedaris, too. I loved Dress Your Family in Corduroy & Denim.

Thanks,
"Sweet Dissident"
