O mnieI've always loved to read. I have two nearly grown boys, one dog and one husband. I'm a Library Tech at our local elementary school.

O mojej biblioteceI buy all of my books at garage sales and at thrift stores. Once I finish a book, I give it back to a thrift store unless it's worthy of four or more stars. Unfortunately I have too many books in my To Read piles to keep all of the books I buy.

Thanks for accepting my friendship.....we have a lot of books in common.

Keep in touch.
Noticed you liked The Glass Castle, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also about a dysfunctional family (and also a bit dark). I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Hi, I have you as an interesting library and came back to see what books we have in common now and wow! we have quite a few and I have to say they are all really good ones. I haven't read all of them, some of them I read long ago, some I know about through reputation, but they are definitely some of the select books in my library. Don't you agree? I also had "The Translator" from the ER program. Right now I am reading "The Mistress of the Art of Death" and just finished "The Dress Lodger" and "A Conspiracy of Paper" by David Liss but I did not enjoy that one too much. He was a bit too long-winded for me.Well, off to read myself to sleep.MB
Thanks for the message.

It *is* always tough when one has issues with one of "those" books. You know, the ones with buzz... everyone is raving... and you feel like the eejit in the corner, right?

I mean, it's a pretty book, but it just about traumatized *me.* LOL.
Hey, Becky! I sure wish you would join a group (the 50-Book group maybe?) then I could see what you're reading! :-) Haven't read Edgar Sawtelle yet. Hope all's well! Bonnie
Hi Beckie,
Oh good! I'm glad that you looked a my profile first and that my rating made sense. :) I noticed that you recently read/added a rating for Edgar Sawtelle. I rarely buy a hard bound but it was cheap enough at Costco and it's been so raved about I thought I would make an exception. I read a few pages in the store and wasn't that excited about it, but then standing, leaned up against a discount table after an hour of shopping is exactly a way to get really involved in a story. Promised myself that I would do some fall gardening first, then I am going to come back in and curl up with this big fat book!
Bonnie
Hi Beckie!

We share a lot of the same books, so I was perusing your list for some new book choices and noticed that you have 2 of my favorite short story collections in your TBR's - Interpreter of Maladies and Shipping Fever. Wait, is that right? I'm thinking of the short story collection by Andrea Barrett. Her stories were so intriguing because they were great stories, but each one also revolved around a famous scientist. And Jumpa Lahiri's book - Wow! You would think that these stories would get redundant since they're all about East Indians, both here in America and in India. But no, it was a fabulous book. Anyway, looking at how you're rating your books, I think you would really enjoy those two titles. I know at first glance, it might not seem like our ratings are similar, but that's just because I'm doing a weird kind of rating and am probably going to have to change. If someone just looked at my library and not my explanation for my ratings, they would think the wrong thing I think, so that's not good. :(

Bonnie
Hi Beckie!

I will definitely be checking your library for future book purchases!

Hi Beckie, I just finished The Constant Princess and have to admit that it was not what I expected. I thought it dragged on. :( I am going to take a break from Phillipa Gregory and read something else off of my tbr list!
Beckie - i'm so sorry about your dog...In my library is a book called "These Too Shall Be Loved" - an older book about the "spirit" of an animal. Really far out but interesting and, well - very comforting!
I lost my old Corgi a few years ago...now I have a Pom who will turn 3 in a couple of days!
Take care! Summer
Oooh, we have a lot of overlap, but what made me crazy were the books in your "to be read" group within the overlap. I wanted to say, "Hurry and read it, it's so good!!"
You are always at the top of my weighted list. I hope to make it to Denver next year. Is the Tattered Cover as great as its fame?
Hi Beckie,
You and I share a great number of books in our collections. I will look forward to perusing your other listings, and learning what else you are interested in.
Happy reading, and happy New Year!
Laura
Hello Bompon! I share quite a few books on my list as well, and have read two that you are currently reading! I've not read the Master Butcher's Singing Club, but have had it on my TBR list for ages!
I also share a lot of books with you, bpompon! Let me know if you have any recommendations! I also like to scam on other people's bookshelves (those who share a lot of my interests) for ideas for my wishlist. :')
i own almost every single book that you do and agree with most of your ratings. just wanted to let you know, i will be watching what you read for tips! happy reading! :)
