First of all, have my best wishes for this holy season.
I am writing this (public) comment at you because you three have started translating the Polish language edition of LT. Congratulations!
You might have seen that I have been adding some translations at it, too. Please feel free -- correction: feel invited -- to review and critic them as due.
Because neither of you seems to be a member of the LibraryThing in Polish LT Group, this might be the right way to address all three of you. Please forgive me if you think that this way is too intrusive.
The matter -- and the question -- is this :
Would it be a good idea to consider the user that is signed in as the first person singular -- i.e. : "I" (instead of : "You"). Though I am fully aware that the English language edition of LT is using "You" indeed -- resulting in problems as i.a. with the odd "You and none other" feature (stats page) -- AFAIK, different language editions can make and can have different choices in this matter.
Thus, instead of having, as is now, e.g. "Your library" and "Your profile", etc., translated into "Twoja biblioteczka", "Twoj profil", etc., the Polish language user might be presented (the Polish language equivalent) of "My libary" and "My profile", etc.
At first instance and as far as a literal translation is considered, the latter might seem quite odd. Then again, many Web 2.0 applications (if not most of them) have adopted the I/My choice indeed. Therefore, though for sure it is not a literal translation of www.LT.com, the latter might be the most obvious one indeed.
Please mind that NOW is the moment to consider (or reconsider) this choice. It is quite fundamental, because it will spread through all of the (Polish language) edition of LT.
