Do you have any counter-recommendations? My 'to read' pile is ever growing, but I always welcome adding to it.

I did like Salmon Fishing. The group liked it too. It was quirky but good brit humour with some softy/cushy stuff thrown in but just the right amount. A lesson squeezed in to boot.
You know after your suggestion, I read about a book group in BC that set up a blog in order to keep track of lists and meetings etc and I looked at yours and a couple others and thought that I should set one up for my group. A good project after mid-July and my exams are done. Thanks for the nudge. I'm not very good at reviews I either like it or not and here's why sorta stuff but I am looking forward to setting it up.
Reading The Reliable Wife right now and liking it but holy cow he's obsessed with sex! Guess that's what happens when you go 20 yrs without.. yikes
I saw Colin McAdam's parents last Friday and I told them I read the book.. pretty funny.
What's on your summer reading list?
Cheers

I did read Fall, soon after its release. It was dark that's for sure and provided intriguing insight into the minds of teenagers of which I have not been one for quite some time!
I have since talked to a number of people locally who have read it including some who went to school with the author. Adrian Harewood on CBC has known the author a very long time and interviewed him a couple weeks ago. I also recently had a tour of Ashbury by the school librarian and she knew all about the book and remembered the author.
Here's what A.H. said "It's a fine novel. I think Colin did a wonderful job of addressing the angst that young people feel along with deftly portraying some of the personalities and capturing the atmosphere of the school. I know Colin quite well. We were classmates and fellow boarders."
I hope to read his first book this summer.
Reliable Wife is next on my list so I will read your review on your blog after I am done. Currently reading "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen".
Great job you have!

Have you read "Fall" yet? I am anxious to hear more feedback on it as what I have read so far has been favourable. I hope to get it and start reading it soon. I live within a few blocks of the school it is based on.
